How is your relationship with that word count?
Here are a couple tips to condensing the language:
- Make words count. The essays aren’t terribly long, so be sure you are utilizing language effectively. Use active verbs and descriptive phrases.
- Don’t repeat. Often in writing, you may find yourself writing the same idea a couple times to find the best way to say something. This is entirely okay in a draft, but we will cut down on language to hone in one what is most important and cut the clutter. This will allow more space for the substance of the essay to evolve.
- Get help. It may be hard for you to see the places that could be rearranged, condensed, or omitted without changing the meaning of the essay entirely. Seek a third party for opinions.
