Discovering the Perfect Essay Topic

open-book

Notice in the previous post that I mentioned brainstorming a topic, not necessarily choosing or outlining, which will eventually be the ultimate goal.

Take time to explore your options. Your first idea may not necessarily be the best or most insightful. There is no reason you must commit to the first idea that comes to mind.

Think about what is important in your life. Consider how it has shaped you into the person you are today. What is something unique, no matter how big or small, that describes you?

Challenge: Take out a pen and paper or your stylus and tablet. Write down three ideas.

Did one inspire you more than the rest? Did you get a vivid image of how you may portray the narrative?

Congratulations. Now you have chosen your topic!
